Mark Mance

Mr. Mance was previously President of Sunstone Hotel Investors, an owner/operator of upper-upscale and upscale hotels, operated under brand names franchised or licensed from Marriott, Hilton, InterContinental, Hyatt, Starwood, Carlson and Wyndham. During Mr. Mance’s tenure as President, Sunstone Hotel Investors owned 54 hotels, comprised of 13,183 rooms, located in 17 states across the United States, and had an enterprise value of more the $1.5 billion. Mr. Mance was responsible during this period for over $500 million of total revenues and oversaw the employment of over 6,000 associates. Mr. Mance joined Sunstone in November 1999 after the company was successfully taken private by Westbrook Partners, and oversaw the transition through the successful IPO of the company in October 2004.
Prior to joining Sunstone, Mr. Mance was a Principal with Westbrook Partners, which he joined in October 1995. While at Westbrook, Mr. Mance was responsible for over $2.0 billion of acquisitions and dispositions, including all aspects of transaction origination, transaction underwriting, transaction execution and transaction oversight. Prior to joining Westbrook, Mr. Mance was a financial analyst and associate at Morgan Stanley & Company Inc. in the real estate and mergers and acquisitions departments.
Mr. Mance has a BA from Duke University and an MBA from Stanford University.
Significant Hospitality Experience:
- Northview Hotel Group - Purchase of over $500 million of hotel assets in DC, Florida and the Virgin Islands from 2004 to present.
- Sunstone Hotel Investors - Purchase of $950 million publicly traded (NYSE) hotel REIT in November 1999, and the subsequent acquisition of several high profile portfolio/hotels including:
- Lodgian Portfolio - Purchase of 10 hotels in September 2000 valued at $132 million from Lodgian Inc., a publicly traded owner/operator of hotels throughout the United States
- Wyndham Portfolio - Purchase of 13 hotels in December 2002 valued at $447 million from Wyndham International.
- Purchase and development of over eight assets with a combined value of over $400m, including The Ritz Carlton Palm Beach, JW Cherry Creek, Warner Center Marriott and the Ontario Marriott.
- Westbrook Real Estate Partners, LLC - Purchase of over $500 million of hotel assets in the U.S. and overseas including:
- Kahler Realty Corporation - Purchase of $250 million publicly traded (NYSE) hotel company in 1996.
- Allegro Resorts - Purchase of $250 million all-inclusive resort owner/operator located in the Dominican Republic.
