Our Union Square landmark, originally opened as the Sir Francis Drake in 1928 was described as “a glittering monument to the progress, hospitality, and undying beauty of San Francisco”. Now, reopened as the Beacon Grand we continue to shine for all history makers.

Original architectural details and artisanship meet modern touches throughout. Every guest room and suite is fully renovated with contemporary flourishes to complement the legendary craftsmanship with high ceilings and European oak floors, while new public area designs for Beacon Lounge and The Library extend inspiring living spaces. A grand brasserie on Powell and curated curiosities in Starlite atop are still to come.
